Oiled version of the Whipcord A2 deck jacket, which gives the jacket improved water resistance. Due to the nature of Whipcord and its low absorbency, the heavy oiling of the fabric increases the weight from our standard weight of 12 ounces to approximately 14 ounces. The A2 deck jacket was first issued to U.S. Navy sailors in the early 1960s and was the natural successor to the iconic N1 design.
This Iron Heart version stays true to the original design and features a durable, wind-resistant whipcord outer and a soft 100% wool lining. The lining extends to the sleeves for maximum warmth and comfort in the colder months.
- 12oz whipcord which becomes 14oz following oil application process
- Oiled with urethane/paraffin mix that results in a much softer hand feel to traditional waxed jackets
